The Academy Awards stand as the grand opening to the awards season and WOW it feels good to be back in person! Admiring all the beauty looks that grace the red carpet is one of our favourite pastimes. 

Yes, the fashion choices stand out but we’re really looking at the beautiful work done by celebrity makeup artists. Let's look at some of our favourite faces and how to achieve these makeup looks on the red carpet yourself! 

Champagne Vibes - Jessica Chastain   

Jessica Chastain in Gucci with a gorgeous soft glam makeup look by Kristofer Buckle. She was successful in taking home the Best Actress award for The Eyes of Tammy Faye - congrats!   

We love to see a pop of champagne shimmer on the eyes paired with a glossy nude lip- totally classic modern glam. This look comes together with a flirty whispy false lash. Get this look using a metallic shadow that compliments your eye colour and a faux lash like SERENDIPITY or CLOUD NINE.

Bold Red Lip - Nicole Kidman

Pro tip- Line your lips with a long-lasting red lip liner and blend it back into the lips to harmonize the liner with the lipstick.  

Hollywood Glam - Megan Thee Stallion

Megan Thee Stallion wearing Gaurav Gupta and embracing an old Hollywood glam vibe! Known for doing her own makeup, we bow down to her talents.

Recreate this red carpet look with our favourite beauty secret- eyeshadow tape. This is the easiest technique for achieving a sharp shadow look. Pairing a big and bold false lash like SHE-E-O or CAN'T BE TAMED will help you achieve this look. These outer corner flared lash styles compliment cut-crease eye shadow. 

The Smoke Show- Ariana Debose   

Ariana Debose was one of many wearing a powerful red ensemble when arriving for the special night, showing off a Valentino jumpsuit and a sultry smokey eye by Andrea Tiller. We had lots of chances to admire this beautiful look, especially when she accepted the award for Best Supporting Actress!  

Her artist used a lightweight false lash to compliment the bold smokey eye - a great technique to flatter eye shapes and balance the overall makeup look and look great on camera.  

Light weight faux lashes are the trend in 2022 and you can get the look by using a lash like ARE THOSE REAL? or SECOND NATURE. You’ll have everyone guessing whether you just walked off the red carpet with eyes like that.   

Pastels for the Season- Lily James

Lily James looks elegant in Versace and makeup by Hung Vanngo. Pastels have been taking over fashion and beauty trends this season and it’s no wonder why such a beauty would be decked out in soft pinks and lavenders! These tones pair well with cooler tone lips like an icy gloss and mauve lipstick. Emphasize the softness of this look with a barely-there lash like Velour’s infamous Effortless Collection, like the soft and romantic WOULD I LIE? lash.   

Gorgeously Grunge – Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stweart arrives on the red carpet ready to make a statement wearing Chanel and makeup by Jillian Dempsey! Thanks to her unique fashion choice and grunge smokey eyeliner, this look was a fan favourite. 

Get this look by working with a creamy long-lasting eyeliner- while still fresh/wet, use a small blender brush to bend out the edges.  

Pro top: use small brushes and small motions to blend upwards, leaving saturation close to the lash line.  

Complete the look with a shorter, volume lash to emphasize the depth of the look- our favorites are A NEW LEAF, and SECRET WEAPON!
